Constant struggles even today among lukewarm christians
Excellent…. But do not become mesmerized by the lies. Satan never sleeps. Individual’s experiences may appear real to them however, the “ancient deceiver” and his minions are experts at appearing as something they are not. “Gold seeking aliens”, “time travelers”, “dead relatives”, “crypt beings”, and/or “other dimensional beings” are just some of their latest efforts. God help us all not to fall victim to this “great deception” in the name of Jesus, Amen! .
Another way to rephrase the question concerning Baal is: Why did the Israelites allow Baal to become their god ? Because, when it is found out that Baal was an agricultural god and that his consort (or wife) was Ashtoreth, a Canaanite fertility goddess, that is often pictured as a nude female with rudely exaggerated sex organs, such as having multiple, large breasts, and that the most prominent part of her worship consisted of sex orgies in the temples or high places devoted to Baal worship, where male and female prostitutes served, it can readily understood that Baal with his consort Ashtoreth was nothing more than pornographic sex worship.
When God, whose name is Jehovah (see Isa 12:2, KJV) refused to allow Balaam to curse the Israelites some three times, though Balak, King of Moab was offering him a hefty amount of money (see Num 22:18), Balaam then concocted a simple, but very effective plan, to have the Moabite women tell the Israelite men that if they would come and worship their god Baal of Peor, that they would give them a "good time" sexually.
It worked, for some 24,000 males gave into their sexual desires and chased after the Moabite women for sex, bowing down to Baal, so that Numbers 25:1-3 states: "When Israel was dwelling in Shitʹtim, the people started to commit sexual immorality with the daughters of Moʹab. The women invited the people to the sacrifices of their gods, and the people began to eat and to bow down to their gods. So Israel joined in worship of the Baʹal of Peʹor (in exchange for sex), and Jehovah became enraged with Israel."
Jehovah tells Moses: "Take all the leaders of these people (some 1,000 chieftains, who were supposed to be "leaders" that male children should look to as a good moral example, but instead became "lovers of sex" when put to the test) and hang them up before Jehovah in broad daylight (on stakes, to impress upon the Israelites what disobedience to Jehovah means), that the burning anger of Jehovah may turn back from Israel.” Then Moses said to the judges of Israel: “Each one of you should kill his men who joined in worship of the Baʹal of Peʹor.”(Num 25:4, 5; see also 1 Cor 10:8, whereby Paul does not mention the 1,000 chieftains put to death, only 23,000 men)
Here are some more details regarding Ashtoreth, that the Israelites made a sacred pole (Hebrew asherah) out of wood that represented Ashtoreth or was an actual image of her that they worshipped.(see Deut 16:21, that says: "You should not plant any sort of tree as a sacred pole (Hebrew asherah) near the altar of Jehovah your God that you make for yourself." Note: the King James Bible reads as "groves" instead of sacred pole, misleading its readers; see also Judges 6:26; at 1 Kings 15:13, Rehoboam's wife Maacah made an "obscene idol for the worship of the sacred pole (which represented the female principle)", most likely a sacred pillar, that was a phallic symbol of an erect male penis that represented Baal as the male principle)
Only two kings are known to have removed the sacred poles and sacred pillars, Hezekiah (reigned 746-717 B.C.E.) and Josiah (reigned 659-628 B.C.E.), who came along and "who removed the high places, smashed the sacred pillars, and cut down the sacred pole."(2 Kings 18:4; 2 Chron 34:7)
Today, sex is worshipped everywhere, and in which morality is just a byword, not a guiding principle in a person's life. So, at Revelation 21:8, it states: "But as for the cowards and those without faith and those who are disgusting in their filth and murderers and the sexually immoral and those practicing spiritism and idolaters and all the liars, their portion will be in the (symbolic) lake that burns with fire and sulfur (or everlasting destruction). This means the second death.”
Should stick with the only Word God promised to preserve for generations, the KJV
