Seldom does a government ever give back power or money once it has it in it's grasp. Look at toll roads. Originally the purpose was to simply pay for the initial cost of the highway that connected two cities together.
Twenty years after being paid for, the toll road still charges the toll, and worse, the money isn't going for upkeep of the road, because the surface is lousy. This applies to more than one toll road I've been on.
This is a year old but Joe was not overstating things. My brother is just a department manager for a local SoCal city, and when the rona hit, he was responsible for logistics such as:
– making badges to let officials through checkpoints in a 100% locked-down city
– planning grid schedules for the National Guard to drop groceries on porches in each neighborhood
– reserving public & even large private properties to facilitate refrigeration trucks & mobile emergency tents, etc.
It was bonkers to hear firsthand the shit our govt was preparing to do!!
