  1. This is a bit long, but the information will be beneficial, in order to know "the truth" say, what the Bible REALLY teaches, as for example, of the "Holy Trinity". Jesus own words to Nicodemus at John 3 establishes who Jesus is: "For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life. For God did not send his Son into the world for him to judge the world, but for the world to be saved through him. Whoever exercises faith in him is not to be judged. Whoever does not exercise faith has been judged already, because he has not exercised faith in the name of the only-begotten Son of God."(John 3:16-18)

Plain as the nose on a person's face, but the problem is that those who believe in "the Holy Trinity" cannot find their noses. If Jesus is God, then how could he in all truthfulness, call himself "the only-begotten Son of God", for the word "begotten" means "to have a father" ? How could have a father if he is God ? How could Jesus say at Revelation 3:14, that he is "the beginning of the creation by God" if he is God ?

That would be a falsehood, and Jesus NEVER told untruths, for he said at John 8 concerning his former "brother" Satan, telling the wicked Jews: "Why do you not understand what I am saying ? Because you cannot listen to my word. You are from your father the Devil, and you wish to do the desires of your father. That one was a murderer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of the lie. Because I, on the other hand, TELL YOU THE TRUTH, you do not believe me."(John 8:43-45)

If Jesus is God, then why did Peter tell Jesus when Jesus asks whom he thought he was: "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God" ?(Matt 16:16) Peter got it right. Here is a list of questions with scriptures to seriously consider:

    (1) John 1:1, 2, in which it does NOT say that "the Word", Jesus Christ, is God, but that "the Word" is "a god", for anyone who looks at a quality Greek interlinear, such as the online interlinear Scripture4all Greek, can see that before "Word" is the definite article "the" all three times so that its accurately reads as "the Word", but before "god", the definite article "the" is there only in the first and third instances, making it read accurately as "the God", but in the second instance, there is NO definite article, so that it accurately reads "a god".

Note: a Sahidic Coptic reading of John 1:1 some 1,000 years before the King James Bible came out, and has BOTH a definite article of "the" and indefinite article of "a" is as follows: "In the beginning existed the Word and the Word existed with the God and a god was the Word", Sahidic Coptic text, located at Chester Beatty Library in Dublin, Ireland, numbered as P813.

    (2) John 14:1, that says: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Exercise faith in God; exercise faith ALSO in me", with Jesus making a clear distinction between himself and God, and of which, if Jesus is God, then why does he call the temple "my Father's house" and not "my house" in verse 2 ?

    (3) John 14:28, whereby Jesus says to his eleven faithful apostles: "If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater ("greater", Greek meizon, meaning "larger [literally or figuratively, specially, in age"], see Matt 11:11; 23:11, 17; Luke 22:27; John 4:12) than I am". Clear as a bell, well for reasonable people.

    (4) John 7:16, 17, in which Jesus tells the Jews who wondered at his great wisdom: "What I teach is NOT mine, but belongs to HIM who sent me. If anyone desires to do HIS will, he will know whether the teaching is from God OR I speak of my own originality".

Jesus again clearly distinguishes himself from God with the particle "or", saying that what he spoke was not of his own originality, as for example of the words: "Do you want the blue or red shirt", making a clear distinction between two shirts with "or".

So, how could Jesus be God and not speak of his own originality, since God is the "source of life" and tells everyone else what is right and wrong, as in starting with the example of "the tree of knowledge of good and bad" in the garden of Eden ?(Gen 2:16, 17; Ps 36:9)

    (5) John 7:28, 29, whereby Jesus tells the Jews: "You know me and you know where I am from. And I have NOT come of my own initiative, but the One who sent me is real, and you do not know him. I know him, because I am a representative from him, and that One SENT ME."("representative", Greek apostello, meaning "to send on a mission")

    (6) Matthew 24:36, in which Jesus says: "Concerning that day and hour (of the great tribulation) nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens NOR the Son, but only the Father". How could Jesus be God and yet have no knowledge of when "the great tribulation" is to begin since he is the one who established the date ?

    (7) John 3:16, that says: "For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life." How could Jesus be God and yet be "the only-begotten Son of God", for if he is God, then why tell a lie that he is a Son, and "only-begotten" at that, for how many understand what "begotten" means ? To have a father, as 2 Corinthians 1:3 says: "Praised be the God and Father of of our Lord Jesus Christ", or Ephesians 1:3, that says: "Praised be the God and Father of of our Lord Jesus Christ" or as 1 Peter 1:3 says: "Praised be the God and Father of of our Lord Jesus Christ". These scriptures shows that Jesus has a father, just as we all have a father that gave us life.

    (8) John 4:22, in which Jesus tells the Samaritan woman that he worships God as other Jews do, saying: "You worship what you do not know; WE worship (Jesus includes himself in worshipping God) what we know, because salvation begins with the Jews. Nevertheless, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshippers will worship THE FATHER with spirit and truth, for indeed, the Father is looking for ones like these to worship HIM. God is a Spirit (and not a man of flesh and blood), and those worshipping him (and not Jesus) must worship with spirit and truth."(John 4:22-24)

  2. I've read the new testament and Bible several times when I was younger but the books which brought me back to the faith in Christianity and really opened my eyes were My Religion and The Kingdom of God is within you by Leo Tolstoy.

  3. Reading God's Word isn't the same as believing what it says enough to put it in practice. That's the problem with Catholicism and Protestantism. Their adherents talk a lot about reading the Bible, but they don't put nearly enough emphasis on actually putting it into practice. Atheists read the Bible too.
