I just taught this in 1 Cor. 3. Competition is a worldly trait of our carnal nature. The Corinthian Christians were comparing Paul and Apollos to one another. Paul stated that he and Apollos were but minister(servants, attendants or waiters-menial duty workers) of Christ the LORD.

They teach the sin of competition at a young age starting with sport's. They don't teach that it's just a game and to have fun. Instead it's if you don't win you're not good enough and they're better than you. Then it builds from there. Don't build others up to be happy for them. They want us to tear each other apart, instead of loving one another..
