It's more of an injustice to remove Apu from the show! As an Indian I always found representation in him and his family. Who are these annoying ass social justice warriors that claim to speak for us?
What is irksome with these overcorrections is that they could perfectly well be avoided. They can be seen by a mile a way by anybody with half a working brain that are not being blinded by paranoia, and messianic delusions. They happen because intelligent people with a say are too lazy to actually look into the "problem" some barely off their diapers activist is moaping about and let these born yesterday idiot with a chip on their shoulder take the wheel entirely. The rare few who try to point out the over-simplifications and blind-spots are imediatly assumed to just be reactionary biggots by the juvenile activist and the lazy inteligent people who can't be bothered to actually take the issue seriously. Most of the time, people just jump on the bandwaggon for good-citizen points. All that is multiplied by 10 by the narcisistic nature of traditional media and internet discourse. In the current culture climate, being "anti-racism" is the go-to good samaritan trope of the age. It holds the same cachet as "being a good christin" would have held in the 50's. Any act or movement claiming to be on the side of anti-racims is taken on their word and hopes, and rarely on their actual delivered results. It's a cycle of shallow posturing games. Modern society has been run like a gossip circle of middle-school girls and eavesdropping catholic neighbors.
The key phrase being "over correction" they just go way too far with everyone.
People who get offended need to change the channel, watch something else or get over it! It's feelings, suck it up and get over yourself!
