  1. I wonder if the telomeric elongation of the lab mice was done intentionally, opposed to accidentally. If telomeric elongation lowers the bar for pharmaceutical safety, then there is an incentive for mice to be genetically altered to throw off lab results. Multiple experts have discussed these mutations, however the exact cause has not been explored.

    It could be the result of medications killing off lab mice with shorter telomers, leading to elongation over generations. If that was true, shouldn't we see that in other animals used for experiments like rats and guinea pigs? Shouldn't we see these similarities in European and Asian lab mice?
