I hate it when people lie, it burns my heart that many people would think I am the devil which is a lie.
what's this supposed to mean and what does this have to do with me?
Why is it that to lie not one of the seven deadly sins?
Satan has great success in modern times by supressing awareness and use of God's name and convincing people that God is triune. Adam was not persuaded to believe the lie 1Ti 2:13&14
"For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 Also, Adam was not deceived, but the woman was thoroughly deceived and became a transgressor."
Adam allowed his emotional attachment to his wife to supercede his loyalty to God. This is the only reasonable explanation for why Adam would choose to eat the forbidden fruit although knowing that it meant death. He chose to accompany his wife in death.
Jesus also said something interesting about Satan that was true in the first century at the time that John received the Revelation from him:
"
“To the angel of the congregation in Perʹga·mum write: These are the things that he says who has the sharp, long, two-edged sword: 13 ‘I know where you are dwelling, that is, where the throne of Satan is; and yet you keep holding fast to my name, and you did not deny your faith in me even in the days of Anʹti·pas, my faithful witness, who was killed by your side, where Satan is dwelling."
Why would Satan put his throne in Pergamum and dwell there? One interesting aspect of the city is that it held the largest library in the world save the one in Alexandria Egypt.
1Pe 1:12 " It was revealed to them that they were ministering, not to themselves, but to you, regarding what has now been announced to you by those who declared the good news to you with holy spirit sent from heaven. Into these very things, angels are desiring to peer."
Satan also had keen interest in learning of any revelations or prophesies from God regarding the future and he may have calculated that Pergamum would be a good place to get a gander at whatever scrolls of apostolic writings came into the world. When he read the Revelation to John and learned of the future battle that would take place between himself and Jesus and the loyal angels, he left Earth and focused his efforts on tempting as many angels as possible to join his side. About 1800 years later he was kicked out of heaven and hurled down to the Earth just as foretold in Rev 12. He did not win the battle. Now he is confined to the vicinity of the Earth but we don't know if he has a "throne" in a specific location.
