Satan's fall parallels man's fall. Satan and his angels thought that they were somehow greater (fools) than God, while Adam and Eve sought to have knowledge on par with God. Even to this day humans continue to pursue knowledge to its scientific limits in effort to become godlike. Pride almost always ultimately leads to a violation of the 1st commandment.

As far as I my understanding goes, we're not predestined to make a particular choice. GOD sees all possible directions a created being can choose to take. Some of which are good, some of which are bad/evil. He gives us the opportunity to make our choices. That can be taken to be a definition of freewill. GOD knows all the possible outcomes of all the possible choices we can make. Even if there is only a single life path in which one lives a holy life among the myriad of evil life paths, GOD still gives his creation the opportunity to follow that single path of holy life. Because, every thing is possible with GOD, who sees the best in us no matter our current circumstances.
But at the point of time in our lives when all the possible life paths we can take become evil and remorseless, that's when we completely depart from our Creater. That's why He is disappointed time and time again. Because he knows all the possible good and bad choices we can make, and yet we end up making bad choices.
And, that's why He refuses to give us some of the things we pray for, because He knows they lead to our ultimate downfall.
As to the fallen angels, GOD sees in their thoughts a total lack of remorse. Originally, I think they all really loved GOD. But in due time they turned against him. He didn't create them with only the possibility of them turning evil. He knew the existence of that possibility but I think there was also a possibility of them remaining good which GOD must have hoped for.
Remember, as there are creations that turn evil, there are also those that stay good, as per GOD's original intentions. The latter justify all creation. Because, GOD told Abraham that for a few good humans he was willing to spare the city of Sodom and Gomorrah. From which we can extrapolate that the blessed few justify creation.
P.S. At the risk of going on a tangent, don't forget that this existence is a temporary one for us humans, so we should consider any suffering we see and endure in this lifetime as a forge fire through which we are screened for an eternal life with GOD if we persist in our faith in Jesus Christ (GOD incarnate) and worship only GOD and adhere to Christ's teachings through the ordeals of this existence.
To be with GOD is infinitely and immeasurably better than being without Him. Don't let anyone or anything covince you otherwise!
