What if another industrial civilization had existed on Earth tens of millions of years ago, long before humans, but all traces of it have now been lost?
While it may seem like an absurd idea, this thought experiment is the focus of a new scientific paper authored by Adam Frank, an astrophysicist from the University of Rochester, and Gavin Schmidt, director of the NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies. They have named the paper “The Silurian Hypothesis” after a fictional race of intelligent, bipedal reptiles from the British sci-fi series Doctor Who—known as the Silurians—that supposedly lived on Earth hundreds of millions of years ago.

I was thinking about this hypothesis even before it became a hypothesis. Everywhere we go we find evidences of some civilization that existed on this planet: Malta, Turkey, Egypt, Mexico, Serbia [with the Vinca and Starcevo cultures] and one has to be aware that some technologically advanced civilization existed here.
Now if you take into consideration the technological advancement of the US, Europe, China, Korea and Japan you'd see that these nations are on a much higher technological level and all of the other nations combined.
So just think of it: In some 50 to 100 years some nations like Russia, USA, China, Japan, Germany, UK will have their bases on the Moon and Mars. We will have habitats there.
In about 200 years the population up there could quadruple, who knows right? And voila, we have a sort of a breakaway civilization.
Humans have infinite potential!
