The 2 Witnesses
1) THE CHURCH
Luke 24:48 “And YE ARE WITNESSES of these things.”
Acts 1:8 “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and YE SHALL BE WITNESSES unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
2 Timothy 2:2 “And the things that thou hast heard of me among MANY WITNESSES, the same commit thou to faithful men, WHO SHALL BE ABLE TO TEACH OTHERS ALSO.”
1 John 5:10 “He that believeth on the Son of God HATH THE WITNESS in himself…”
Revelation 20:24 “…I saw the souls of them that were beheaded FOR THE WITNESS of Jesus, and for the word of God…”
2) THE WRITTEN WORD OF GOD
Matthew 24:14 “And THIS GOSPEL of the kingdom SHALL BE PREACHED IN ALL THE WORLD FOR A WITNESS unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
John 5:39 “Search THE SCRIPTURES; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which TESTIFY OF ME.”
THE TIME OF THEIR PROPHESY
As stated in Revelation 1:1 “The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants THINGS WHICH MUST SHORTLY COME TO PASS; and he sent AND SIGNIFIED IT by his angel unto his servant John.”
To understand the Book of Revelation one must dissect verse one. Just like it says, the things written therein began to happen to the Chistian Church almost immediately after Jesus Christ ascended into Heaven, has continued on throughout history, and will continue until the day of His return. It does not say that it is sealed until a period of time at the end like it states in Daniel 12 :9. THERE IS NO SEVEN YEAR TRIBULATION. Christians have been suffering horrible persecution since the stoning of Stephan. Then many others by the hands of Saul before he became Paul, the Roman Empire, the Roman Catholic Church FOR OVER 500 YEARS, and it continues to this day. If one doesn’t consider the deaths of millions upon millions of Christians by horrific means to be TRIBULATION, what do you think it was/is?
Also it says that the angel “SIGNIFIED IT” to John, which means it was not to be taken literally, but as in word pictures. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. So, with this in mind as one looks at Revelation 11:3 “And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.”, this represents the last “3 ½ years” of the ministry of Jesus Christ, as it is still going on through His Word (witness), and will until His return. It is simply “signifying” a period of time, from His ascension to Heaven, until He returns again in judgement.
That famous 70th WEEK OF DANIEL so many are misled into waiting for, happened right after the 69th WEEK OF DANIEL. That “week” SIGNIFIES the entire time of the ministry of Jesus Christ though His spoken Word, and His written Word.
Daniel 9: 26 “And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off… 27: “And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: (The New Covenant began at the time Jesus Christ rose from the dead and will end at Judgement Day. The entire week/time of the ministry of Jesus Christ) and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease…” (after a 3 ½ year ministry Jesus Christ became the perfect sacrifice for our sins and the Old Covenant was done away with along with animal sacrifice.)
There were Old Testament Christians that were looking FORWARD to Jesus Christ coming just as we look BACK to when He did. ALL ARE HIS WITNESSES (and comprise the TRUE CHURCH). Revelation 5-6 mentions a couple of them, Elijah and Moses (John 5:39:46 “For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.”), and a few specific things they did by the hand of God (not are going to do), as His witnesses. The OTHER WITNESS, of course, is THE WORD OF GOD (John 5:39), as faithfully preserved in the King James Bible.
I was thinking maybe the two witnesses were Jesus Christ and the prophet Muhammad even tho they're not here in their earthly physical bodies. They're still here thru their preaching works. Maybe there will be new findings of their preachings. Anyways that could be why many will fall away if they had to accept the two prophets as God's witnesses instead of their religions false doctrines and division of the two powerful dominance in all humanity peace be upon all believers and love be amongst ALL
