As far as motive, he is missing the key piece which is Gary Hinman's murder. Bobby was sitting in jail saying he would confess everything if they didn't get him out. This made Manson paranoid as he was at the Hinman house and even cut his face. Manson knew he would go back to prison if Bobby talked so there's the real motive, copycat murders to show police Bobby was innocent. "PIG" was written at all 3 crime locations but the Helter Skelter narrative NEVER mentions Bobby or Gary. Shame.

Tom – so the family members that were not part of the trial never got convicted never went to prison had no more Charles Manson they’d had to go do something else. Reporters ask them if they are going to go over to Scientology and join. They said come on man. I know I dropped a lot of acid but not THAT much acid.!!! I used to have a tall stack of letters from Susan Atkins, in the 90s, as well as a few from Manson and Sandra Good…I interviewed Atkins once, and they all wanted to be penpals for some years. Sandra used to send me recipes, and I Ching readings. Can't say this man is wrong, but I never heard anything which suggested the CIA was involved with what they did. Could be and they didn't know it, but I'm always skeptical of this idea.
