  1. Be careful not to make assumptions when reading the Bible.

The person in this video assumed that Jesus' "family came to take Him home and lock Him away, because they thought He was out of His mind." This is not necessarily true.

    Mark 3:20-21 NRSV
Then he went home, and the crowd came together again, so that they could not even eat. 21 When his family heard it, they went out to restrain him, for people were saying, “He has gone out of his mind.”

    Mark 3:20-21 KJV
And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread. And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.

    The assumptions this video made:
    1. His family think He is out of his mind. Yet many translations imply that the ones who think He was out of His mind were people outside His own family.
    2. His family came to restrain him, is not the same as locking Him away.
    3. Mark 3:32 does not say "Your mother and brothers and sisters have come to take you home".
NRSV writes: A crowd was sitting around him, and they said to him, “Your mother and your brothers[c] are outside asking for you.
NIV writes : A crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, “Your mother and brothers are outside looking for you.”
KJV writes : And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.
And if you open the interlinear bible, the translation also says "… are seeking You"
In no way, it was implied that they wanted to take Him home.

    4. Mary felt hurt by the implications. This is simply not stated anywhere in the Bible. Jesus never goes against God's commandments, which says Honor your mother and your father. Therefore He never actually disrespected His own mother. His mother Mary does the will of God, she was the one who says "I am the servant of the Lord, be it done unto me according to Your words." Jesus was implying that Mary was the perfect example of His mother, but His mother is also any woman who does the will of God.
