I find it a bit bothersome that Tysons' actions weren't sanctionned, does that show words can be answered with punches? Society doesn't work like that, you are not to judge if someone's words or provocation warrants physical retaliation. If you are in a situation with no other option (meaning you can't move, you can't plug your ears, etc) you could consider more drastic measures.
The proper way was to get the obvously drunk person away or off that airplane. No one called for assistance, no one intervened, people just let it play out and watched as if it was a movie.
