Western propaganda, these people are nuts
In the future A.I machines are going to evaluate all citizen to see if you are still fit for society if not they will "permanently remove you " from society.A.I will be made to removed rebellious people or the non essential (weaker)
I've lived in China, for many years, in a very 'Chinese' town, a tourist town and Beijing. There's a lot to dislike, but parts of the social score thing works I think.
In the UK, which is a society based on mostly enforced law, I can not pull my car over to the roadside, wide down my window, and empty two carrier bags of litter directly on the pavement / sidewalk. I'd risk a fine. But I've seen this done in China. Which is a society not universally governed by law, but by general ideas of social harmony. There isnt a law or fine in China for litterbugs … but if you are the kind of arsehole to litter like I said, the social score thing can penalise you.
When our systems fail in the UK, lets say you have a shitty neighbour who plays loud music, or have a partner who avoids child maint payments, you cant do anything. But social score could.
Real life example. My friend did some very underhand business, amounting to fraud / theft from her employer. She was fired and the boss went after her legally, which in a society of harmony not law, is difficult, convoluted and expensive. My friend lost, deservedly, and was ordered to pay compensation.
She had no intention of paying a bean. To enforce the payment would require another long and expensive legal thing.
But her social score was threatened, and she would lose access to high speed rail travel, which would affect her new employment. She borrowed money from her family, paid the fine/compensation.
I havent seen that episode of Black Mirror, but I have lived in China. At times, its like the wild west …

Dear Lord, Bro Jogan can't be this stupid and uniformed, we already have such system in place, people who really want to, can check everything they want to know abut you, during my interview for a job in bank my credit history was checked, my monthly income my criminal record history and bunch of other stuff, the tinfoil brigade and Bro Jogan need to sober up and get a grip, at least Joe's excuse is that he is wealthy so it never happened to him but what is yours?
