Americans just have the definitions all messed up.
Republican or conservative, is not the opposite of liberal.
AUTHORITARIAN is the opposite of liberal. Don't forget the root of liberal is liber… it's a Latin word… meaning free.
Most American Republicans, you can ask them a few questions, and from their responses, say: "Oh, so you're a classical liberal" then they get angry, like you've insulted them.
Google what a classical liberal is. It's small government. Low taxes. Private property rights. Free citizens. People having the power, rather than government.
Republicans say they love these things… but they hate liberals. It's a real head scratcher.
