Vietnam veterans were betrayed by gutless politicians. The Vietnam war was run by a bunch of four star clowns who wound up giving the whole circus away! After I came home from Vietnam, it took 25 years before somebody said “Welcome Home” to me. 🎖💜♠️🪖🇺🇸
The differences is we won WWII. And those veterans were treated like veterans and heroes. And then you have Vietnam, where anyone who couldn't afford college was drafted so the government created a socioeconomic meat shield, and it was never declared a war while it was on going, it was just a long "military action." So they were fucked out of A LOT of veterans benefits. And because the country didn't agree that we even should have been in Vietnam, they were treated horribly when they came home. And that treatment and attitude and distrust of government went on through Korea and Desert Storm. That's was after 911 there was such a large propaganda push being pro-soldier. We didn't want a repeat.
