Christians need to understand this to understand the Bible. The New Testament did not start till the death of Jesus Christ. The life of Jesus Christ before His crucifixion was part of the Old Testament. Jesus Christ came to fulfill the law and the Old Testament.
Gal 4:4-5 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,
To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
Hebrews 9:11-18 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.
For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator.
For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood.
So you have to understand that the New Testament did not start until the death of Jesus Christ. That being the case, the testimony/ministry of Jesus Christ was directed to the Jews and the Nation of Israel.
Matt 15:24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
Matt 10:5-6 These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:
But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
The parables Jesus spoke were directed towards Israel. The parable of the 10 Virgins were for Israel during the Tribulation Period. Failure to understand this is failure to rightly divide scriptures.
You guys still don't understand. Sin is not the issue after you become born-again. All sin was forgiven at the cross through the blood of Jesus Christ. It no longer becomes a matter of repentance after you are saved. Once you become a child of God it is your relationship with Jesus Christ that sanctifies you…not you trying to become righteous. Our righteousness is in Jesus Christ through Jesus Christ. Our own righteousness is as filthy rags. What transforms a person after they accept Jesus' blood atonement is their relationship with Him and the power of the Holy Spirit through them. The only thing the believer is required to do is have a will to please God. You are to seek the Lord and His righteousness. As time goes on you will notice that sin has less influence in your life even though it is still there…because sin dwells in the flesh. The first part of our redemption in Christ was our spirits/souls. The second part of our redemption is our bodies at the rapture of the Church. Christians trying to redeem their bodies and make them sinless is impossible. This is why Paul wrote it is not he who sins, but the flesh he dwells in.
Romans 7:14-25 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.
Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.
Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.
I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.
For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:
But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.
O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
