I'm a recovering heroin addict and was homeless for 5 years. Every single homeless person I've ever met. Is homeless because they want to be, not because they have to be. There are plenty of places and programs to get the help they need. I did. I think many people have a misconception about the homeless. It's not those that have fallen on hard times. Because there are programs to help them. It's those that want to be homeless and continue to abuse drugs.
Most of the homeless are exactly where they want to be. We're not going to fix the problem with money either, offer them a hand up, if they don't want it, to hell with them. Most of the mental health issues are caused by the rampant drug use.
