This book is beautiful. I think its a great read and edifying. It reminded me of Judith. Full of gems and written centuries after the main characters were alive in order to keep the contents coded. John has a similar writing style for Revelation. Another example of keeping code alive for the sake of establishing types is that Peters Babylon is actually Rome. My thought is that is would make sense for the source to work the other way. Whoever wrote Esdras was familiar wih Matthew and was writing about Jerusalem of 70 AD but coding it in the place names of the 6 th century BC.
