In terms of "Halloween" celebration and the day of the dead ( catholic holiday remembering the dead), I have personal experience of given word to catholic school board. It was acknowledged after that meeting it was a direction to me from God to speak up and instruct the meeting that "WE ARE TO BE A LIGHT TO THE WORLD, and that holiday is not giving light, nor is it in any way glorifying God or accepted or pleasing to HIM.
My kids first year at the Catholic school ( Im bible based, husband was raised Catholic). It was horribly difficult to be obedient, as I did not want to make the school boards first impression of me coming up against them. I had a internal battle with being obedient, but Im so glad I was.
After the meeting 2 moms came up to me as I walked to my van, and told me they were also given instruction by God, and could not follow through. I know seeds were planted by those words. Of course I did not tell the people in the meeting that my words were from God.
Those struggling celebrating in that secular hip holiday, there are Christian alternatives. Its been a decade since my kids wanted to join in those holidays, but Son Country kids had an outline of a carnival like party the Church could put on for their communities. They were big here in So.Cal 90s-2005, for summer and holiday programs for Christian Churches. I do know Foucus on the Family still is in business and may have that type of resource material.
Stay true to you, for Christ is in us.
