In Japan, Ryujin – the dragon king, sea god and master of the serpents was not your typical airborne dragon that terrorised cities or breathed hellish fire. Instead, Ryujin was depicted in art as more of a sea-serpent – a creature that stuck to the waters as opposed to soaring the skies.
