  1. What Jack said here about NCIS is exactly true. From my own experience from being in the Navy for 6 years I have seen exactly these things. NCIS is two faced hypocrites who are all molded by the Navy’s highest chain of command to do their bidding. NCIS won’t think twice to pull in some sorry ass E3 who had an alcohol related incident in town at a bar and absolutely ruin his career…but then will turn right around and turn a blind eye toward an O6 stealing government equipment and materials. Instead they will investigate a dozen other lower ranking people and the fall will come down on them in one way or another while said O6 gets a nudge on the shoulder from his Admiral to do better and those NCIS agents get a nice check in a tertiary account under their name for covering their asses. I’m not going to name drop anyone, but this is a thing. And the scene in The Terminal List where Reece confronts the NCIS agent in his home and finds out that agent was getting paid to divert the investigation is EXACTLY the shit that happens. It may be function but it’s based on real things. Loved The Terminal List though. Highly recommended.

  2. Not sure about NCIS but Army CID is an actual MOS for the military guys (31D). I was in the running for this back in the day while I was still active but the transfer process was so long I would’ve had to re-enlist. CID is pretty legit as far as military investigative services go. They are offered some awesome training opportunities but ultimately it’s still the Army. They bounce your ass around just as they would as an MP. Stability is non-existent and trying to work your way up the ladder is difficult.
