Charley was probably a better song writer than singer, but he flopped because people didn't really want to work with him because he was a psycho. LSD screwed his mind and some of it was permanent. Obviously Manson had a leg up because he was an energetic youth, but the few good Hinkley songs hit home, he's writing poignant songs YOU CAN RELATE TO that openly describe his "journey" of having a positive impact on the world in the aftermath of being locked up for 40 years because of his extreme craziness doing the worst thing at the worst possible time.
