One of my soldiers in Iraq was on the ass end of an IED. In a sense he was lucky, the other two inhabitants the vehicle did not sustain any injuries, unfortunately he lived, but he had a level three concussion, he was knocked cold. Unfortunately, I have lost touch with him. God I hope he's doing all right. He was thekind of 20 year old that successful military Endeavors are based upon.
I played soccer in high school, and if you look at high school concussions statistics, the soccer is number three on the list of concussions sustained biased participants. I would have to find that list, forgive me for not doing so, but it is definitely there. As an aside, there are a lot more concussions for female soccer players than male, why that is so I do not know.
I'm 6'3, and I remember that a ball came in over the middle, which is man's territory. I was guarding this pain in the ass who is about 5 ft 8 or 5 ft 9. This ball came in over the middle, and I got to it because of my height, and I headed it out.
This pain in the ass was also going for the ball, and he got me with his head. Right in the right temple. I have no doubt that I sustained an undiagnosed concussion that day, because I briefly blacked out, for about maybe a tenth of a second. I remember making the joke to the rest of the players from the old Bugs Bunny cartoon, which way did he go? Which way did he go? And I just laughed it off.
Angle tackle was made to give you a concussion. Punts and kickoffs dangerous as hell too. My coaches got mad at me because I got a concussion and couldn’t pass the cognitive tests to come back. Shit was different back then
