He is incorrect. The mark is exactly what the Bible says it would be. The number of the beast and his name will also be literal. Discernment is knowing what is literal and what is symbolic. Therefore, if the mark of the beast, his name and his number are all symbolic, then the beast is symbolic as well. Doug Bachelor is in error, and is basing his teachings on 666 from an incorrect understanding. Be warned!

It Hass to be a physical mark that can be recognized at a point of sale. There may be a simple listing component to it as well, but saying that it’s purely simplistic does not explain how they can deny you the ability to buy or sell.
