I'd like to see the kid try riding a Real skateboard, circa 1965. Not one of the plastic-wheel, wide axle, contraptions. The originals took talent and skill to run downhill / slalom. If you want to try, here's how to do it: Go to a real roller skate shop and buy a skate plate … use a hacksaw to cut it in half. Bolt each wheel/axle unit to a piece of plywood. Jump onboard. Simple. Every time you take a tight turn, the compost wheels will skid an inch or so … controlled skid. You can't use it like a scooter … no one-leg flat ground … just downhill slalom ( with gloves & helmet … maybe. )
