It is my belief that God made men and women, according to Genesis chapter one. The creation of Adam and Eve was a separate event. It happened some time after the creation. I believe Adam and Eve were the test case, the ones God tested to see if they would sin if the opportunity were to present. And unfortunately, they did just that!
Adam and Eve's sons married and procreated with the human women who had already been created and were breeding and subduing the Earth. That's how sin spread to all humankind. There was no need to marry their sisters because there would have been plenty of women to choose from. The very words of Cain to God in regard to whoever finds him could kill him, suggests that there were plenty of people around. I doubt there would have been much more than seven people alive on Earth if the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve were the only ones around. No . . Humankind was created by God in His likeness, whereas Adam was made from the soil of the Earth and Eve was made from Adam's rib; neither of them were created as such. They were made by God for the special purpose of choosing good or evil.
We're never gonna find the remains of the Garden of Eden because it was most likely removed from the world by God Himself once it had served its purpose. After all, nobody was allowed in there after God banished Adam and Eve. They were essentially moved into the gen-pop, to use our current vernacular. Maybe, as some say, Adam became king of the human beings in his vicinity, but there is no proof of that.
We need to remember the Bible is the account of how God punished humanity's sin, then reconciled humanity to Himself, using the Sacrifice of His only begotten Son to die in our place to purchase with His blood, the forgiveness for our many sins. The Bible follows the genealogy of Jesus from Adam, the man God made to test Mankind, through to Jesus, the Son of God who came to Earth as a human being to redeem Mankind. It is therefore Adam's bloodline through Seth that eventually brings forth both of Jesus' Earthly parents.
Cain took a wife from other hominids present that time along with humans. By science, these hominids were Neanderthals. It explains that the modern humans have some genes from Neanderthals. In time, the genetic load from Neanderthals increased. Yet, not all individuals have equal number of genes from Neanderthals. May it explain that not all individuals are not accepting Christ and will not be saved? We are witnessing a fewer Christians and more atheists, Muslims, Buddhists and other cults followers nowadays. I may tentatively relate it to genetics.
