I have had 4 encounters with black bear in the past two years camping and fishing in the mountains that I live in in California, actually 4 interesting experiences too. They the chances of sighting a bear is highly unlikely in you’re lifetime living in California .

Ancient Germanics also were funny about bears. The name “bear” itself comes from “brown”. Every other indo European language has an actual word for bear like Greek it’s arktos. So its theorized that germanics name for bear being simply “the brown one” was a he who shall not be named situation where they were scared to say the real name for bear and accidentally summon one lol so they just called it “the brown thing”
