The lack of fat, in the wild diet. Was why the west coast oolichan fish harvest, was so important for trade.
making your own rod/reel is super easy. i did it as a 8yr old. you can do it with string or fishing line preferably, a hook, and a soup can. you spool the line around the can, tie a twig 4 inches above the hook, and cast. the twig will act as a float, and when you feel a tug, you start 'reeling' it in, by wrapping the line around the soup can. it works with a beer can, or really anything, you can use your arm.
