So weather catastrophies have always been happening, its not anything new. just now more than ever people record these events. 50 yrs ago Youtube wasn't around to easily capture every weather event.
But I do think that the last 100 years after the industrial revolution humans have created so much pollution all over the planet that its changing the weather patterns in a huge way. For example all the extra Co2 from cars, factories etc. Human progress is also our demise, our civilisation is creating new chemicals polluting the water systems and atmosphere and have no idea what the consequences will be years later. All this pollution is changing the chemistry on the planet, not to mention how many species of animals and bacteria and organisims are becoming extinct. That indicates how humans have damaged the planet already. And the weather is acting up as well, its out of natural balance so more weather catastrophies happen than would naturally before the industrial revolution and our modern way of life.
I also wouldnt be too surprised if the government had some part of it too, like the other commenters mentioned HARP and geo engineering and who knows what devious plans the government has.
