The Southern Television hijacking was a television intrusion incident that occurred on 26 November 1977, at 5:10 p.m. The hijack managed to override the UHF audio signal transmitted by the Hannington transmitter, while distorting the UHF video signal that was transmitting ITN News with news reporter Andrew Gardner.
The pirate broadcast involved an individual claiming to be a representative of an “Intergalactic Association”, warning viewers to be at peace with each other, and to remove all “weapons of evil”. According to several initial reports, the transcript involved “Asteron” briefly warning viewers that only have a short time to either live in peace, or end up leaving the galaxy.

either way, i always thought this was an interesting story. around the same time i first heard of this story (about 5 years ago), i came across another that claimed we had received a distress call from another planet, when back tracking the signal, it had been sent sometime around the ice age and had just reached us, nothing ever followed. they both were pretty intersting stories (true or not) worth thinking about.
There were other times "aliens" hacked the airwaves. I remember watching X-files on tv…while it was still being made, and one night it was broken into by a hack. The alien was seated behing a console and had a Very large strangely shaped head. I can't remember the message, but it was seriously delivered. And sounded like someone trying to speak a language not suited to its vocal chords.
"Ashtar Galactic Command"? That kind of reminds me of Ishtar (AKA Ishhara, Irnini, Inanna, Anunit, Astarte, Atarsamain, and Esther)
Its good to listen to Words of Light from our Galactic relatives, they too are passing the LAW of the WORD from Ye Elder Gods of the Cosmos.
