Hell is simply a place where God is not. If heaven is a place of joy, mercy, peace, love, rest, thankfulness, humility, hope etc, THEN…Hell is the opposite. It's a place of: no joy, no mercy, no peace, no love (hatred), no rest, ungratefulness, pridefulness, hopelessness etc. Since most people refuse to accept the gift of his Son Jesus Christ and reject him, God will respect your choice and they will be eternally seperated from Him. Please accept that gift while it's available, lest you die before and are eternally judged. You cannot correct the wrongs once you pass the threshold. It's not a video game where you can press 'reset' and begin again. What's done on earth while you are alive will resonate into eternity.
This is the sickest teaching of misguided Christians in the whole bible. Here are some facts about hell. 1. Hell was never mentioned to anyone in the old testament. Think about that. If hell was this terrible place that the wicked goes to, then why didn't God warn these people about it. 2. The people in the old testament believed scriptures that said, "The dead are conscience of nothing. Ecs.9:5 "His spirit goes out, he returns to the ground. In that day his thoughts perish. Ps.146:4 "From dust you are, to dust you will return." Gen.3:19 No mention about hell there.
Jesus used fire to symbolize eternal destruction. Such as the dump outside of Jerusalem, where dead criminals were discarded. He warned people not to end up like them. And which is why the Lake of Fire in Revelations is called the Second Death. Because there is no resurrection from this kind of death. And Jesus says that the fire will never burn out to symbolize that this death is forever.
God created us with free will. He totally understands that some people will decide not to serve him. And for them, he says with mercy, that you will return to the same state that you were in before you were born. Only a sick person will burn people forever just because that person decides that serving God was not for him.
If someone teaches you that God is going to burn people forever in a hellfire, then run from that sick person. He is a false teacher and he does not know God.
