i think it may be because god or whoever you believe in put us on this earth to experience and create, so when we experience the euphoria and awe while tripping that's a glimpse into what we experience when we finally reunite with god as one. and he put us down here to experience exactly what we are experiencing, whether good or bad. We may some how need to go through that good or bad event to evolve as a spiritual being. if god really gave us true free will, he wouldn't be able to change our bad situation because that would be him interfering with our true free will and possibly the situation that our soul being had to experience to evolve and grow.
