BJJ was originally started by the Gracies as a martial art for self defense, and Rickson still purports teaching it in that context, not just how to win BJJ competitions where your opponents are playing along with BJJ rules
Lmao as someone who’s been doing BJJ since 2006, I’ve only trained Muay Thai, boxing and some other striking arts in a cursory sense (2-3 months on and off here and there just so that I’m not a complete idiot with my hands/standing up) …but if he puts his hands on me it’s over hahah. Like thanks for giving me your arms buddy
1. Boxing is probably one of the most effective disciplines in a street fight, way more than BJJ, as you can keep the distance while you strike against one or two enemies. BJJ is very affective against one oponent, but it is very dangerous if there is more than one.
2. In a 1 vs 1 BJJ is one of the most effective techniques and way more than boxing.
3. The best thing you can do is combining each of them in your trainigs.
Hugging stranger in a street fight without knowing they have knife or not is totally unsafe
I mean sure, take a guy down on conctete but then his 5 friends jump your ass, brilliant advice
