Why don't they change it with net?
From those cartoons, I learned that taking a shotgun blast to the face would only blacken your face with soot, blow your hair / feathers back, and spin your bill around. Well, if you were a duck, anyway.
Pretty much the same if a lit stick of dynamite went off in your hand, per Wile E. Coyote.
It doesn't make sense either because Elmer Fudd is supposed to be a "bad guy". We are supposed to have sympathy for Bugs Bunny. I have never thought of Elmer Fudd as a hero for hunting Bugs. They really didn't have to take away the gun. He was already portrayed as the evil and dumb hunter.
