Back in 1983, the CIA wrote an obscure report on the “Gateway Experience,” claiming that an altered state of human consciousness could transcend space and time.
Declassified in 2003, this 29-page document was titled “Analysis and Assessment of the Gateway Process.”. It’s thought that the report was part of a CIA investigation into the use of mind control and hypnosis in Cold War espionage. It’s a dense and wordy report that touches on everything from neuroscience to quantum mechanics, shifting between hard science and pseudoscience with the ease of a tightrope walker. The CIA is essentially exploring the idea of inducing an out-of-body experience that might allow them to tap into some higher realm beyond reality.
According to the report, the universe consists of a complex system of “interacting energy fields” in which states are just variations in energy. Human consciousness is no different; it’s just a vibrational pattern of energy. When hemi-sync is achieved, the report says, it can induce an altered state of consciousness in which a person’s consciousness is released from the physical world and tuned into a pure field of energy.

But when it grows, it is the largest of all garden plants. It becomes a tree big enough for the birds to come and make nests in its branches.” Then Jesus told them another story: “God’s kingdom is like yeast that a woman mixes into a big bowl of flour to make bread. The yeast makes all the dough rise.” Jesus used stories to tell all these things to the people. He always used stories to teach them. This was to make clear the full meaning of what the prophet said: “I will speak using stories; I will tell things that have been secrets since the world was made.” Then Jesus left the people and went into the house. His followers came to him and said, “Explain to us the meaning of the story about the weeds in the field.” He answered, “The man who planted the good seed in the field is the Son of Man. The field is the world. The good seed are the people in God’s kingdom. The weeds are the people who belong to the Evil One.
