In this segment of an interview I did on Patricia Steere’s show (on Sept. 23, 2015), I was asked about my take on Kent Hovind (a man I truly do love and admire) as it pertains to the issue of the Bible and the Flat Earth. Here’s the thing: Kent Hovind is fond of claiming that the (KJV) Bible is true, scientifically accurate and can be taken literally. I cannot see how anyone can say that and not take a serious look at the Bible’s absolutely crystal clear descriptions of the Earth as being a stationary, circular plain, set on pillars, under a dome, within which the sun, moon and stars were placed on Day 4 of Creation. Kent Hovind was one of several people who taught me I should believe the Bible and that it can be taken literally. Hence the reason I have even bothered to look into the Flat Earth idea at all. In my opinion, to deny the idea that the Bible is a Flat Earth book from Genesis to Revelation is to prove “willful ignorance,” which according to brother Hovind is like “being dumb on purpose.” It says what it says. So, what are we to do about it?

There is also biblical precedence for stars referring to human authorities or leaders: same goes for the sun and moon. We see this in Genesis 37:9-11, ""Behold, I have dreamed yet another dream: and behold, the sun and the moon and eleven stars bowed down to me." He told it to his father and to his brothers. His father rebuked him, and said to him, "What is this dream that you have dreamed? Will I and your mother and your brothers indeed come to bow ourselves down to you to the earth?" His brothers envied him, but his father kept this saying in mind.". With respect, Revelation is a book of symbolism given to us to show us a deeper truth: working in a way quite similar to Jesus' parables. I admit, the more I study prophesy, the more I find myself in awe and perplexed, but even the book of Revelation, upon first mention of stars says, "The seven stars are the angels of the seven assemblies", (Revelation 1:20). We also know that "Angelos" is messenger. Thus the angels of the seven churches. This was written to humans. Concerning Revelation 12, the woman has 12 stars upon her crown. This is quite possible meaning the church with the symbolism of the sun, moon, and stars as a reference to her origin being Israel. The stars the dragon drew in his tail and cast to earth does not need to be angels either, but a reference to his working apostasy within the church. Truly, Bible prophesy is not open to private interpretation, but this is why we need look into the whole of Scripture to interpret these signs and symbols used in Revelation.
Hi Rob, so why would GOD make the moon and all the planets and their satellites to be round spheres but make the earth to be flat as you seem to be saying? And they are as I've studied them with a powerful telescope myself.
And how to satellites orbit a flat earth with the gravity fluctuations in that shape?
And why do boats appear to grow in size from top to bottom when watched from a great distance as I used to see them over & over when I lived in Venice Ca.?
And there's no reason that the word "stars" in the Bible can not refer to both angels and balls of fire we know as "stars' in the heavens. Just saying 12/27/15
I wonder because there is evidence of an Ice Age, if that could possibly correspond with the bible's tale of when God made the sun stand still in the sky for days…..maybe the rest of the earth froze. I wonder if it could be established that the area the sun was said to have stood still at shows no sign of an "ice age". Would make sense, just a thought, not sure if anyone has looked into it.
What? Rob, do you and other Christians out there believe in a flat earth? I had this chat with a flat Earther and he didn't answer any of my questions?
– So what does a flat Earth look like? Is it like a flat disc?
– Does that mean Nasa has no satellite orbiting and taking a still photo of Earth?
– Is Earth rotating?
– How do you get day and night? Is the Sun orbiting earth?
– Can you explain the pre-flood canopy? This is important if Adam and Eve lived up to 1000yrs.
– Are all the other planets flat?
– Does earth have a mantle and a crust? What is beneath the ground? How does Geo-magnetisim work on a flat earth?
The reason why I don't believe in a flat earth because planes would fly off the grid of the earth? If you don't know what I mean then do a test. Grab a remote control plane and put it in a disc or circle and run it straight and see what happens?
I pray the lord may reveal truth within us all.
I think a good debate between Hovind vs Skiba is in order. Proceeds going to charity.
