hi doug doesn't the scripture say houses and lands plural.were these not extra properties that the people did not actually live in. if you sell everything and give to the poor then you become poor yourself and can no longer help anyone else. I met a young couple who did this very thing ,sold absolutely everything and gave it all away. they became a burden to every one and depended on the church members for food and lodging .Ellen white says to get homes in the country for the time of trouble to grow food. please clarify.
