Please be patient and read this little info about the New Jerusalem. Most preachers and pastors want to see a city built with Gold and precious stones as if these things are really important in the world to come, gold and precious stones have a lot of meaning for us fallen people and to think that "things" are going to have any value for God in the new creation, completely lost the meaning of this City, The New Jerusalem. and A lot of people try to see on a symbol something it is not, the New Jerusalem isn't a city, a place where there are a lot of houses and buildings. the New Jerusalem described in Rev 21:9 is one of the most ill interpreted symbol in the whole bible, a lot of people see the new Jerusalem as a real city and they fail to see that this is not the case. The angel tell John: Rev 21:9. "Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb" Not only the angel say the bride, but now the angel says that the bride is also the wife of the Lamb, a bride changes the status to wife when she gets married to the bridegroom. This piece of information "the wife of the Lamb" tell us that the City isn't a building or a lot of buildings, because from all books in the Bible, His people are always represented as His wife and in the New Testament the Church take the place of Jesus' bride because the Jews rejected Him, and a lot of times Jesus says that He is the cornerstone that was rejected by the constructors. The New Jerusalem can only be His people or God's people from all ages and we can see that not the New Jerusalem isn't only the bride, but also the Wife because the marriage already took place. Jesus already married them, His people, the New Jerusalem isn't a place but it is God's people. Its God and His people living in harmony, that's why the foundation are the twelve apostles, because they were responsible to build the foundation and the City over themselves or over their teaching about Jesus. The New Jerusalem is the junctions of God's people and their God, that means Jesus and His people makes up the New Jerusalem because as Jesus' said John14:1-4 in my Father's house are many rooms and I am going to prepare a room for you( you can also understand instead of room a habitation) and then I come to bring you to where I am. Jesus is in the Father and we are in Jesus. The new Jerusalem isn't a place it is the conjunction of God and HIs people. That's why the angel says: "come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb". And the wife of the Lamb can't be a city, it would contradicts the whole bible. God didn't sent His Son to the world, so he could be married to a "city". Jesus came to prepare a bride for Himself and His bride is His people. The same manner when God was going to give Adam a helper and he was put on a profound sleep, so did Jesus in his death. And now a bride is being prepared for Him and this bride to be is his own people, as was Adam's bride she was flesh of his flesh and bones of his bones. In the same manner is going to be the Lamb's bride we are going to be flesh of His flesh and bones of His bones.
I understand this subject isn't what most people hear about, but this is what is being revealed to us in the bible. The book of Revelation uses a lot of symbolic language. Nobody makes any mistake when we talk about God's Lamb, we all know it is not talking about an animal, but it talks about Jesus and His paper in the redemption history but, when cames to the New Jerusalem most people try to understand it as a literal account. And it is not, it is not an opinion, but what one can learn from what is said about the New Jerusalem, it is " the bride and the Lamb's wife" These terms can only the use for His people. There are a lot of places in the bible where construction is used as analogy for what Jesus is doing, because Jesus is building a city not with bricks or mud or any other material, but the building block of the New Jerusalem are His servants where He is going to inhabit.
