Excellent! Refreshing! Learning to re-sent my motives behind the thrust of my faith, and cut away the old branches that have no more LIFE!
The faith movement pushed the scripture that "faith without works is dead," but what kind of WORKS? The scripture also says to "abide in the VINE," and "whatsoever a man sows that shall we also reap."
If Jesus is the VINE and we are the BRANCHES we are supplied, nurtured, sustained, and equipped to blossom and bear "fruit!" Is the "fruit" a work? As in the fruits of the Spirit's love, joy peace, long-suffering, endurance, etc.
I need more clarity on how not to strive to act out a WORK that is not based on TRYING to please God, but DEMONSTRATING by choosing to LOVE instead of COMPETE for the MARK of the high calling by overcoming by a pure heart, not being motivated by greed, competition, rank, gain, accomplishment, but choosing (acting out in faith) LOVE and not hate, prejudice, forgiveness or
bitterness, or rather TRUST in simple
faith. Choosing to love someone who is NOT lovible takes a lot of faith or endurance, as we set ourselves to stand in the gap for unlovable lost souls!
