The only story I’ve been told by my grandpa about Vietnam was horrific. The only time I’ve seen that man cry. Told me a story where his group was ordered to burn a village of mainly women and children, and saw a girl with her hair on fire running towards him. Went to go shoot her so she didn’t suffer and his commander told him no. My grandpa and his brother who was with him walked away to a line of trees and waited for everything to be over. I never dared to ask about anything else afterwards. I know he’s got more stories, I know he knows alot of information on why they really went over there, but I’ll never ask that man to relive that shit again.
