Such motivational speakers are inevitable in a capitalist society, where the idea of success itself is more important than the reality of mastering/excelling at a specific craft. They just want to advertise the idea of success or growth and not really talk about success or growth in WHAT FIELD EXACTLY. Classic ambition vs passion problem. Ideally, if you have an interest and passion in something, whether a form of art or an academic field, or craft, or some specific sport or line of work, you will obviously focus more into it and you will become good at it and success and happiness would come with it as a byproduct. Unfortunately, what we get in reality in any modern society around the world is just ambition or desire to simply succeed without being interested in or passionate about anything particular. Thus, the idea of self help and growth itself becomes more important than growth itself.
