Anyone seeing Thor Love & Thunder this week?
Megingjörd was mentioned in the MCU; ironically not in the Thor movies it was in the Spider-Man movie where they were moving things from the Avengers building to upstate NY; Stark’s head of security Happy mentions it when reading off the manifesto of items that they are transporting and as a gag he cannot pronounce it.
You are right that it is never shown and it isn’t a major plot point at all, that scene could have been deleted and nothing would have changed.
Thor story line
This was more about MCU's Thor than Marvel's Thor. I understand it is much harder to do research for a character who's got over 60 years of history compared to what, 7 movies or something, but Marvel's Thor is a genuine attempt to reinterpret the stories from the Eddas and even attempt to understand the core concept of Norse Paganism, unlike the lobotomized MCU take. In Marvel Comics Odin killed Ymir and created the nine realms from his remains, he sacrificed his eye for wisdom, the runes is an actual power in comics and both Odin and Thor received it by hanging from the world tree, Ask and Embla are shown in the very early Journey Into Mistery comics, Thor and Sif both vowed to marry each other one day, Hela and Fenrir are referred to as Loki's children, Heimdall is the son of unnamed nine mothers, Ragnarok is a scary end of the universe and not just some comedic farce we saw in the MCU, etc. In short, it would be much harder to find a story or a character that Marvel Comics have not yet pulled from the Eddas than otherwise.
