I keep hearing people complain that the Flat Earthers don’t have a viable map. Well, at this point, I’m questioning whether or not we have an accurate map for the globe. From what I’ve been seeing so far, we don’t. So, believers in the globe really have no right to blast the Flat Earthers on the issue of maps.

All the people in the comments saying "it's not a map, it's a model!" guess what: unless you've personally laid your own eyes on the entirety of the earth, from a distance, and were able to sufficiently interact with it, then you don't actually know shit. You're taking it on faith that the "ball model" is indeed accurate, and therefor inaccuracies introduced when the ball is transcribed onto a 2D map are acceptable. Your assertions are warrantless and frankly unrelentingly boring.

You have to be kidding. The Mercator Map was never meant to be an accurate representation of a globe. Mapmakers all know that there is no way to make an accurate flat map,because there is no way to take the reality of a spherical planet,and make a flat representation that is accurate. I know flat Earthers will think that this is another “gotcha” moment,when all it does is shows how little knowledge they have about every subject,including mapmaking.The fact that you cannot flatten out a sphere without distortions,is the exact same reason that flattards cannot make a map that matches reality. So your little video here,in no way is any evidence against a spherical Earth,it is actually more proof against a flat Earth,just presented by someone too stupid to know the difference.
Of course it is, it's a fecking globe. All globe maps are therefore projections which will obviously show some distortions, in different ways according to which type of projection. If the earth is flat then there is no reason for a map to be a projection but simply show it accurately like it is. No prizes for guessing why there is no accurate FE map..
Noone claimed mercator projection is accurate. It is the projection of a 3D object. The flat earth map is not a projection and has no reason to be inacurrate
