If they employer was paying a dollar an hour he'd treat his employees better because he's lucky to have them because if they quit he'll have to pay a lot more. It's tough finding employees who will work for 1 dollar. But if he has to pay 15 dollars an hour those employees better know their stuff because there are 20 drooling for a chance to actually get a job. What happens is that workers with the skills sit at home complaining about how little they make. While people who want to work fight over those jobs. When minimum wage goes up the skilled worker goes to work and the people who were willing to work for less get fired.
The whole reason they came up with minimum wage was to cut minorities out of the job market. I guess Americans were a lot smarter at one time because they knew what minimum wage would do to minorities. Singapore is famous because it's so prosperous. No minimum wage hasn't hurt them. Minimum wage is why employers are so rude to their employees. They resent having to pay so much. Also they can be rude to employees because there are 20 more people chomping at the bit to take that employee's job. When it comes to employees minimum wage makes the employer's job much easier because employees are competing with each other for the fewer jobs that are left.

The solution to this is 1099 work. People get paid what they are truly worth. So 1099 work is basically a loophole to the minimum wage
