Socialism would work if the rules were enforced by robots
Roads, sanitation and fire departments are not socialism, they are a "public good." Communists routinely confuse the two. As a concented upon public good the means of control remain with the individual. Socialism/communism is a dictatorship by committee, and a state religion to the masses.
Socialism breeds a particular type of greed that is more in line with predatory capitalism. It's evil. Full stop.
Mandate that people have to pay a % of their income to charity. Make the 60% tax optional to either go to the government or go to charities.
The greatest most charitable people in history are all Catholics. And Catholicism at it's core rejects Socialism. So what does that say about Socialism being at it's core or fundamental nature a charitable system. Listen to why Catholicism rejects socialism, because Catholicism teaches that all who love God and pursue him give up their life and give themselves as a living sacrifice for the sake of the good of others. There is no better narrative for giving up yourself for the good of others, yet they reject socialism. WHY?! Go read and find out.
