That's right baybee. He drank COKE, morning, noon and night. I had friends in 1983 that had hollowed out surfboards and would drive to Mexico and come back with big Big BIGG bags of yo yo. They were a wild bunch.
"Midnight Express" was one of my favorite films of all time. Now I have been studying the French international heroin trade for years now and I finally understand the Billy Hayes story a little better. I also know that the Colombians were helped by French Mafia many years before to create an illegal drug market for Cocaine. First it was Peru. Then Colombia and the French couldn't control things in South America, so they left and focused on Indochina and heroin.
Stone's work on El Salvador is one of the most impressive works done on the subject. I spoke with Father Bourgeois of the Fort Benning School of the Americas protest. This was a nasty piece of CIA dirty war history. I am very thankful to have Oliver Stone creating dramas for these subjects. It is important that America see its history. Most will never read enough to know. And who can blame them. It is a mind-bending amount of reading you need to do to understand these subjects. Oliver Stone brings these subjects to life.
I also thank Oliver for climbing through the Warren Report and stayed with the investigation into that evidence. That needed to be disproved and to expose what it exposes. I would not have hung in there with that research project. It was so irrational; I wouldn't have stayed with it. I am a Pentagon Papers researcher, and I am used to voluminous texts, but the Warren Report and the JFK evidence is a rabbit hole. As a historian, I try very hard not to do the rabbit hole. It just so happens; Oliver came out with the rabbit on that one. For this reason, Oliver Stone is a legend.
