Mr. Doug Batchelor, I thank God that you are a believer in the Lord Jesus. However, I assure you that you need to ask the Lord to lead you into the Catholic Church. The Church founded by the Lord Himself. He knew the Church will not be perfect in the flesh because He choose the twelve who eventually denied Him and abandoned Him at His trial and crucifixion. In spite of their unfaithfulness He still confirmed them after his resurrection, he did not choose new people, but they later chose another to replace Judas who removed himself. The Lord Jesus, who chose them, whom they betrayed, denied and abandoned when he most needed them, reconfirmed his choice of them after His resurrection and commissioned them to take His message to the rest of the world. He gave them His Mother to be their mother, (read the crufixion story by John) and She with these unfaithful, fallen men, all earthen vessels entrusted with eternal treasure received the Holy Spirit to go out. Did they become perfect after that? No, but the choice was not primarily because they were perfect, but because God is perfect and faithful. This is why the Catholic Church , regardless of her many sins, will endure because God is faithful. Protestantism is first of all about pride, then deliberate obtuseness. Sometimes the arguments Protestants put forward against Catholicism is all so stupid coming from people who pride themselves as knowing the Scripture, yet refuse to truly open their hearts that they may be taught by the Holy Spirit through the Scripture. They rehash all the things they prepared to attack the Church (Catholic Church). Protestants want to run family businesses under the guise of church, so they can be law unto themselves, interpret the Scripture as they choose. I watch how they pick and choose what to preach and what to ignore, ( look at how they dress to Church, which has become a show. Yet Paul, who is a very favorite of the Protestants {protesters}, clearly prescribed how we should dress to worship for proper reverence.) I assure you, your Martin Luther is turning is his grave and saying to himself: "what have I done?" They profess Sola Scriptura, yet that scripture did not drop from heaven (a servant is not greater than his master – scriptural). They want the authority, they want the money, they want the applause and they think God is deceived. I watch how they exude this 'holier than thou' attitude when critizing the Catholic Church. And I shake my head. Catholics that do not know their left from their right following all the flashing lights they see in the protestant camp. Those of them (Protestants) who truly want to serve God and ask for guidance with open hearts eventually return home to the Catholic Church. Ask and you shall receive. The Catholic Church has had wars waged against her, all sorts of wars, from within and without, and has endured regardless. More than 2000 years! Think about that. Read Acts. 5: 38-39. In less than 500 years look how splintered the protestant world has become. I do not dare to imagine what they will become in 1000 years. They brag about having new members and growing in number; well because they tailor the message to please and less not forget that "broad is the way that leads to pedition" You have a lot to give.
