I'm pretty sure that 1994 crime bill that Bruce mentioned was Bill's bill. Ironically, I voted for Clinton shortly before getting caught up in that crack down on "crime". A former roommate of mine who had been recently busted with a large quantity of weed introduced me to his new girlfriend and asked me if I could get her some weed. Like a fool I did him a favor and got her an ounce of weed from a dude I knew. Long story short, the girlfriend turned out to be an undercover cop, and the dude I got the weed from lived just within the radius of a school zone, so I got charged with a felony drug offense, and had to do a mandatory jail sentence. I was only in jail for a few months, but the felony charge has turned out to be a life sentence in regards to how it has affected my life. I know that my story does not compare to what Mr. Bryan went through, but it is just another example of how unjust and potentially harmful our hungry prison system is in the US.
I'm sick of all these people moaning…
At the end of the day if you can't do the time, don't do the crime. 🤷
