Gilgamesh is believed to be the oldest poem in the world – its very origins pre-dating the Iliad or even the Bible. The baked clay tablets in which the poem survives on, once lay buried in the rubble in sites across the ancient Near East, broken and forgotten. It wasn’t until 1850 when these tablets were discovered and it would be another fifteen years before they even got the attention they deserved. In this series, I’ll be retelling the Gilgamesh story in its entirety and whilst this endeavour will be entirely original, I will be drawing on inspiration from the translations by Andrew George and Stephen Mitchell to help illustrate what might be one of the most profound things I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading.

Bro, I wanted the raw uncut version for scholastic purposes
I think Gilgamesh’s counterpart Enkidu, is his animalistic nature that he needs to conquer and find balance to become a full hero
Imagine how good that sex must have been to give him sapience
I like all your stuff, but the hair like a woman is long. That's it. Drop the homo stuff lmao. That's nuts, you want it to be so. There's 1,000s of references to hair as a woman as in long. Antiquity, hair was short. Look at scipio africanus. He was wild and had long hair. Stop with the 2020 view point placed on Antiquity. Long ago, men had short hair, women had long. Across all cultures of the fertile crescent
